Dual Swing System.
Two independent swing-away arms on one hitch-mounted frame. Open the back with the trailer still hitched. Slots into a 50 mm hitch, on in about ten minutes.
Trailer on.
Boot still opens.
A single long arm has to swing clear of the whole tailgate, and a hitched trailer is in the way. Two shorter arms split the load, each pivots out on its own side, and the back of the car opens with the van, camper or boat still on.
Rear access while towing
Open and close the rear with the trailer hitched. No unhooking at camp, no unloading the drawbar to get to the fridge.
Each side opens on its own
Wheel on one arm, cargo on the other. Swing just the side you need; the other stays latched.
Still the Novaa system
Same pivots, same integrated lights, same T-slot racks. Wheel holder, cargo carrier, drop table and tank all bolt straight to the half racks.
The system comes off your tow-ball limit.
You keep the tow rating: the Dual Swing is ADR compliant with a 3.5-tonne tow rating, so your vehicle's towing capacity doesn't change. But everything on the swing — frame, racks, wheel, cargo — hangs off the tow ball, and your vehicle has a maximum tow-ball download, usually 10% of its tow rating. The Dual Swing and what you load on it are subtracted from that figure. What's left is what your trailer's ball weight has to fit inside.
Find your tow-ball limit
It's on the compliance plate, in the owner's manual or on the tow-bar label. Many 3.5 t wagons and utes are 350 kg; smaller SUVs can be 150–250 kg or less. Check your own plate — we won't guess it for you.
Subtract the Dual Swing, loaded
Frame and swings 42 kg, two half racks 10 kg, wheel holder 7 kg plus the spare, cargo carrier plus whatever's in it, then jerries, tank or table on top. A typical touring setup lands around 150 kg.
What's left is for the trailer
Your trailer's ball weight has to fit inside the remainder. If it doesn't, carry less on the swing, move weight into the trailer, or rethink the tow setup. Never exceed the plate.
Worked example — 350 kg tow-ball limit, full touring build
- Vehicle tow-ball limit (plate)
- 350 kg
- Dual Swing frame + two arms
- − 42 kg
- 2 × Half Mounting Rack
- − 10 kg
- Wheel holder + 33" spare
- − 42 kg
- Cargo carrier + two jerries + box
- − 56 kg
- Dual Swing, loaded
- − 150 kg
- Left for your trailer's ball weight
- ≈ 200 kg
■ on the swing ~150 kg · the rest (~200 kg) is what the trailer's ball weight can use
Illustrative figures. A 2.5 t camper at 10% ball weight (250 kg) would not fit here; a 1.8 t camper at 180 kg would. Tow-ball download also counts toward GVM and rear-axle load — if you're heavily built, weigh it.
Check it for your car
Send us your compliance plate, what you want on each arm and your trailer's ball weight. We'll run the numbers and send them back with the quote.
Ask us to run the numbersOr open the GVM & tow-ball calculator →- Lighter trailers — box trailer, boat, camper trailer — are where the Dual Swing makes the most sense.
- To tow at the full 3.5 t, run the swing light or take it off: it's a ten-minute job.
- Not sure? Send us your compliance plate and your trailer's ball weight and we'll run the numbers with you.

Common questions.
Can I tow with it on?
Yes. The Dual Swing is ADR compliant with a 3.5-tonne pass-through hitch, so your tow rating stays. What changes is your tow-ball budget: the system's weight and load come off your vehicle's tow-ball limit, and your trailer's ball weight has to fit in what's left. The tow-ball section above walks through it, or send us your plate and trailer figures and we'll run the numbers for you.
How much does it cost?
From $2,880: the Dual Swing system is $2,300 and the two Half Mounting Racks it needs are $290 each. Then add what each arm carries at the normal price — Wheel Holder or Cargo Carrier $471 each, Drop Table $412, 20L Slim Line Tank $243, Recovery Board Mount $199. The locking pin, anti-rattle bracket and hardware are included.
Why two arms instead of one long one?
So the back of the car opens with the trailer still hitched, and so each side swings on its own. Shorter arms also mean less swing-out at camp.
Will it fit my car?
Any vehicle with a standard 50 mm hitch receiver can take it. Rear door clearance is the thing to check — send us a rear photo, a hitch photo and the distance from the hitch to where the door opens, and we'll confirm.
Do the lights and number plate work?
Yes. LED brake lights, indicators and a lit plate mount are integrated into the frame and wire to your trailer plug. There's no separate lighting board.
Can I use my existing Novaa accessories?
Yes. The Half Mounting Racks use the same T-slot as the full-size rack, so the Wheel Holder, Cargo Carrier, Drop Table, 20L Slim Line Tank and Recovery Board Mount all bolt straight on.
How long does it take to fit?
About ten minutes in the driveway with a 21 mm spanner. It slides into the hitch and tightens up — no cutting, no drilling. Off again in about five.
