INSTALL & FITMENT
How long does the Base Station actually take to install or remove?
About 10 minutes on, 5 minutes off. Once your wiring plug and hitch pin are set, it’s as simple as sliding it into the receiver, tightening the anti-movement lock, plugging in the lights, and swinging it open. You’ll do it faster after the first go.
What tools do I need to fit the Base Station?
All you need is a 21 mm spanner (or socket) to secure the locking pin and anti-rattle bracket. No cutting, drilling, or modifying your vehicle required.
Will the Base Station fit my vehicle’s towbar or do I need an adaptor?
It fits any standard 50 mm hitch receiver — that’s the legal size across Australia. No adaptors needed unless you’re running a custom or American-size hitch (2.5” or 3”). If so, we can recommend a reducer sleeve.
Can I use the system with a rear-mounted spare tyre or barn doors?
Yes, that’s what it’s designed for. The swing arm clears most barn doors and rear spares (like on Prados, Pajeros, and Patrols). If you’re unsure, send us a photo of your rear setup and we’ll confirm fitment before you order.
Does it work with drop-down tailgates or swing-open rear doors?
Absolutely. The single swing arm opens independently so you can drop your tailgate fully or open side doors without hitting anything. Just make sure you swing the arm open first for full access.
TOWING & WEIGHT
Can I still tow 3.5 tonnes with the Base Station fitted?
Yes — every Novaa Base Station uses a pass-through hitch rated to 3.5 t towing, so you can still tow your van, boat, or camper as normal.
The only adjustment is to your tow ball weight — if the Base Station and gear weigh 100 kg total, you simply subtract that from your maximum tow ball limit.
Example: if your vehicle’s rated tow ball load is 350 kg and your setup adds 100 kg to the rear, your new safe tow ball limit is 250 kg.
What’s the total system weight?
The Base Station itself weighs about 45 kg. Add your accessories — for example, a cargo tray with a couple of jerries or a wheel holder — and you might be at 80–120 kg total depending on the setup.
That’s well within the design limits for most modern 4WDs and utes, but always factor that number into your vehicle’s rear axle and tow ball weights.
What’s the maximum load I can safely carry on the rack?
The system is rated for a practical 150 kg total rack load.
That includes everything bolted to the swing — tyres, jerries, boxes, tables, the lot.
It’s been tested across corrugations and off-road conditions to that figure, not just on paper.
Is the Base Station ADR-approved and legal to tow with?
The relationship between distance, duration, and EMF exposure is straightforward: the closer and longer you are to an EMF source, the greater the exposure. This is especially relevant considering our reliance on devices like smartphones and laptops. Here are some insights from the CDC:
Cell Phones and Radiation: Cell phones and cordless phones emit radiofrequency radiation (RF). While RF is different from more harmful types of radiation like X-rays, the long-term health effects of RF radiation are still under investigation.
Reducing RF Exposure: To minimize the risk, the CDC recommends using hands-free headsets or the speaker-phone function more often. For those with pacemakers, there were past concerns about RF interference, so it's advised to consult with healthcare providers about any potential risks.
Ongoing Research: The World Health Organization (WHO) and other bodies are continuously studying the potential health effects of cell phone use, including the possible association with certain types of health conditions.

5G's Health Impact: Navigating the Uncertainties
Yes — every Base Station is ADR-compliant and engineer-approved for 50 mm towbars.
The hitch is pass-through, meaning your towbar and trailer coupling work exactly as they should.
All lights, indicators, and the number-plate mount are fully road-legal across Australia.
Do I need to tell my insurer or registration authority about it?
Not usually. The Base Station is classed as a removable hitch-mounted accessory, not a vehicle modification.
If your insurer needs declared accessories, just note it as a hitch-mounted gear carrier with 3.5 t pass-through rating. We can provide compliance specs anytime.

SHIPPING, WARRANTY & SUPPORT
How long does it take to get my order?
We usually ship within 5–10 business days once your order’s packed and powder-coated. You’ll get tracking the moment it leaves HQ.
Delivery times depend on your location — metro areas are normally 2–5 days, while regional or remote areas can take a bit longer.
How is shipping handled — can I pick up instead?
You’ve got options. We offer free depot or business pickup Australia-wide, or home delivery for an added fee (usually around $140 due to size and weight).
Everything’s sent through TNT/FedEx with full tracking and insurance.
What happens if something arrives damaged or missing?
If a part turns up damaged or missing, just contact us straight away. We’ll replace the affected part immediately — no run-around, no waiting for returns.
All components are individually replaceable, so you’ll never be stuck with a whole system off the road.
What’s covered under the Novaa Lifetime Warranty?
Every piece of Novaa gear comes with a Lifetime Warranty on structure and welds.
If you manage to bend, break or wear something out, we’ll send you the replacement part, not a whole new unit — that’s how we’ve designed the system to be modular and repairable.
It’s a lifetime warranty for people who actually use their gear.
Who do I contact for support or technical questions?
You can reach the Novaa team directly by email, phone, or message on social — you’ll usually be talking to the same people who build the gear.
If you’ve got questions about fitment, towing, or legality, we’ll even send a quick 60-second video showing your exact setup so you know it’s right before you hit the road.
